Fertility Control Update

The volunteer darters are busy preparing for spring, read more on the fertility control program.

Two more of AWHC’s long time darters have hit a bit milestone. Their dedication to keep the Virginia Range wild horses wild is appreciated not only by us, but by supporters near and far.

As always, a big thank you to all the incredible volunteers who make this program happen. Their dedication and love for the horses shines through their hard work. Thank YOU.

Monthly Highlights

Meet Rob, a volunteer with the Technical Large Animal Rescue team and AWHC fertility control team. Read a story about the transformation of a rescued horse named Skittles. And then brace yourself for a very unexpected “surprise” on the range!

Happy Tails Rescues

LRTC held a rescue training class and the new members got to try out their skills the very next day! See how they moved these horses who found themselves in a residential neighborhood back to a safer part of the range.

Please use the above number if you see horses or foals injured, sick, or at risk. Where does your call go? Your call goes to a 24/7 answering service that will connect with an on-call volunteer. From there volunteers, proper agencies and organizations will be dispatched. This includes, but is not limited to, local organizations, a large animal rescue team, and the sheriff's office in the corresponding area.
